Kangaroos, Owls & Alpacas at Japanese Petting Zoo?! // Japan Goldfish Trip: Episode 3

I got invited to Japan! The Japanese TV show called “Who Wants to go to Japan” finds people who have an interest in some part of Japanese culture and invites them to Japan to experience that culture on their TV show. In last week’s Japan series video, you followed along as I visited the Koriyama Goldfish Museum. The next day was rainy, so we had a day off for sight-seeing. While picking out souvenirs at a mall in Osaka, we found this petting zoo, called the Tempozan Anipa. Tempozan is the name of the mall and anipa is short for animal park.

I don’t think all zoos or petting zoos are inherently bad, and while I did enjoy the experience of seeing some animals up-close that I hadn’t seen before, I found a few things questionable. Because of the language barrier, I couldn’t get any clear answers about those things either. But it was still a neat experience, so let’s take a look!

This video is the third in a series about my Japan goldfish trip. Tune in next Friday to see my visit to a traditional family owned and operated Japanese goldfish farm where they produce lots of gorgeous varieties of goldfish – ranchu, jikins, tosakins, and more!
